Energy codes

Energy codes are an important way that states and municipalities can provide consumers the assurance that at the time of construction residential buildings met minimum standards of energy efficiency.  This assurance translates into direct immediate as well as future energy savings.

I was at the end of my permitting process when I found out I needed a REScheck. A delay could have been a real problem. But after a friend recommended MECexpress, I emailed them my plans and received the reports the next morning. All I can say is ‘Wow’.

RESchecks AND comchecks

  • Most states have adopted energy codes -- Model Energy Code (MEC), International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), or state equivalents.  In these states all new one and two family residential buildings, as well as multifamily buildings three stories or less and all new additions must demonstrate compliance with these codes.
  • Many states will accept REScheck to fulfill energy code requirements for residential projects. At MECexpress we perform RESchecks in line with national and state energy standards.
  • Commercial or high rise residential buildings must comply with codes based on the ASHRAE/IES Energy Code. Many states will accept COMcheck to demonstrate compliance with these codes. MECexpress can complete your COMcheck analysis. Contact us to discuss your project.
